FAQ

  • How long does it take to become a General Contractor/Builder the traditional way?

Typically, it takes 4–6 years to even qualify for a general contractor license. You’ll need at least 4 years of field experience, and if you go to school, add 2–4 more years for a degree in construction management or engineering. That’s years of waiting before you can even apply. At Build For You Academy, we condense the key construction knowledge, business systems, and project strategies into either an 8-week online program bundle or self-paced courses that get you moving toward your goals immediately.

  • How much does traditional contractor education cost compared to Build For You Academy?

A traditional path can cost $60,000–$120,000 for a 4-year construction degree or $8,000–$25,000 for a 2-year program — not including years of lost income while in school. At Build For You Academy, you can gain the same foundational knowledge and confidence for just: $3,000 for the Mastery Course Self Pace (construction fundamentals & management) $6,000 for the Mastery Course Bundle (includes construction fundamentals, management, mentorship & live webinars) That’s a fraction of the cost — and you’ll be learning real-world, actionable skills you can apply right away.

  • Do I need construction experience to enroll?

No experience is required! Our programs are designed for beginners and aspiring builders who want to understand how construction projects work from start to finish. We teach you step-by-step — from evaluating land and reading plans to managing subs and budgeting effectively.

  • How is the training delivered?

Everything is online and interactive. You’ll attend live webinars, video lessons, and hands-on assignments designed to simulate real-world construction scenarios. You can ask questions, get feedback, and learn directly from experienced builders — all from the comfort of your home.

  • Are there payment plans available?

Yes! At checkout you have the access to Klarna and Affirm to make enrollment flexible and affordable. Klarna allows you to split your tuition into 4 interest-free payments, charged automatically every two weeks — no credit impact for approval. Affirm offers monthly financing options, so you can spread your tuition across 3, 6, or 12 months. Affirm shows you your total upfront — no hidden fees or surprises — and payments fit your budget. Both options make it easy to start learning now and pay over time.

  • Is Build For You Academy accredited?

Build For You Academy is not an accredited college or university, and we don’t issue degrees. Instead, we focus on practical, real-world education designed to get you results in the field — not in a classroom. Traditional accreditation applies to institutions offering academic degrees, but construction success depends on hands-on knowledge, real strategies, and professional networks — not formal credits. Our programs are created and led by experienced builders and industry professionals who have built homes, managed projects, and developed properties firsthand. You’ll learn exactly what it takes to plan, finance, and complete a build successfully — the kind of training most accredited schools don’t offer. Upon completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion from Build For You Academy recognizing your mastery of the course material and your commitment to becoming a builder.

I’m Rakeem, but most of the team knows me as Roc. I have five years of real estate experience, with my work centered mainly around new construction. I started in property management, where I learned the ins and outs of rental operations, tenant relations, and managing investment properties. From there, I moved into new construction, gaining practical experience in coordinating build phases, working with contractors, and understanding the full process of residential development.
